At BerkanaWay, I have created a Naturopathic practice to work with people in a capacity many have not experienced before. Clients have the opportunity to share, discover, and participate. Together we develop a path to achieving their health goals where the focus is on healing and the results are outstanding and long term.

Services/Expect

Services and products
Describe your services: BerkanaWay — A Wholistic Way To Life We work to help you create your own “Wholistic Way To Life” by providing a personalized integrative approach utilizing Naturopathic Medicine philosophies and the Naturopathic Paradigm of healthcare. Naturopathic services include: * Functional medicine - non-invasive testing and analysis of saliva, urine, stool and hair. * Clinical nutrition - the use of diet as therapy. * Botanical medicine - the use of plants as medicine in herbalism and aromatherapy. * Homeopathy - the premise that “like cures like”. * Hydrotherapy - the use of water as therapy. * Constitutional identification - based on Traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. * Physical medicine - exercise recommendations, massage, reflexology. * Counseling/lifestyle modification - hypnotherapy, Reiki, meditation training and Emotional Freedom Technique. * Spiritual Ceremonies * Classes/Workshops How does your healing modality work? Naturopathic medicine is identified with a philosophy of life, health and disease. Fundamental to the practice of naturopathic medicine is a profound belief in the ability of the body to heal itself given the proper opportunity. This opportunity is provided within the Naturopathic Paradigm outline below. Naturopathic Paradigm: 1. Address the whole person 2. The body and the mind are interconnected 3. Emphasize achieving good health 4. Treat underlying causes 5. Take an integrated approach 6. Focus on diet, lifestyle and preventative measures 7. Focus on subjective information 8. The Doctor's caring and empathy are critical to healing 9. The Doctor is a partner in the healing process 10.The Client is in charge of health care choices How do you see your services evolving over the next three years? Continuing to participate in the evolution of how people perceive health and how unhealth is addressed in our country. The emergence of new diseases and the revelations that viruses are an underlying cause of many chronic illnesses is building the momentum behind awakening to the fact that a toxic environment damages our immune system and (re)discovery of plants as healers, an area that BerkanaWay embraces fully.
Describe a typical session and how someone might prepare for it.
Describe a typical session: A Naturopathic session generally begins with a period of dialogue to uncover and gather information on the challenge the client wishes to address. Goals are discussed and client questions are answered. We continue the discovery process during a noninvasive physical exam that may include assessing accupoints, iridology, lymphatic palpitation, tongue and teeth assessment, organ and intestine palpitation, as well as more conventional blood pressure check and eye/ear/throat exam. Recommendations for change/modification or further testing can be given immediately, though often in the case of chronic illness a follow-up appointment is scheduled to allow time for further research and compilation of a personalized protocol. How long is a typical session? Initial appointments require 45-90 minutes for Naturopathic services and follow-ups range between 15-60 minutes. Massage, Reflexology, Hypnotherapy and Reiki appointments are generally 60 minutes. Describe your office or treatment room: BerkanaWay LLC is located in a safe, comfortable professional setting in downtown Batavia along the Fox River . There is ample parking and access to the Riverwalk for taking a stroll before or after appointments. The private treatment room is a quiet retreat to enhance our work, while the consultation room offers a tranquil setting overlooking the river and attendant wildlife. The BerkanaKare holistically formulated face and body products line and the Berkana 100% pure organic essential oil line are available for sampling and sale in the retail area. How should someone prepare for a session? Completing the intake forms available on the website or by mail beforehand ensures time to thoughtfully answer the questions and gain personal insight. Gathering and bringing with all pertinent information such as any test results, dates of procedures, medication names and dosages, nutrient information, etc. Wearing loose comfortable clothing.

Benefits

Describe your services and benefits (results) people see.
What are the benefits/results people see? Many clients express gratitude at the opportunity to really be heard in regard to their health goals and questions. We work at reaching the root of the issue so that true healing can occur, rather than management of symptoms. Since each person receives an individualized approach the outcomes can be quite outstanding. For example a child diagnosed with ADD, if the underlying cause is found to be a genetic condition called Pyroluria, which is addressed through nutritional supplementation, prescription medications with their side-effects may no longer be needed when this deficiency is balanced. The child regains a sense of self-control and can release the psychological burden of a label. Clients suffering with a chronic illness like Fibromyalgia often have been using several prescription medications in an attempt to control symptoms at the beginning of our work together. Since viral infections are at the base of many chronic illnesses, improving the immune system response and basically following the Naturopathic Paradigm has given us great successes not only in reduction of symptoms and therefore medications but long-term remission of the condition. Why do people come to see you? Chronic Illness & Pain * Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis Cancer * Prevention, Pre-, Concurrent, and Post- conventional treatments Depression * Situational, Seasonal * Related syndromes-Anxiety, Insomnia, OCD, Schizophrenia Addiction * Alcohol, Tobacco, Food, Drugs Children's Health * ADD and related disorders * Allergies, Asthma Detoxification * Personalized Programs for Pathogens-candida, bacteria and parasites, Viral Load, Heavy Metals, Gall Bladder Attacks, Kidney Stones Hormones * Testing, Infertility, Endometriosis, Menopause, Men's Prostate and Impotence Weight Loss * Endocrine testing, Pathogens, Personal Program Sports Performance * Increased Endurance, Clinical Nutrition, Faster Recovery, Injury Who is an ideal client? Adults and children with chronic illnesses that aren't responding or healing with an allopathic western approach. Those who have “normal” test results from an allopathic physician, yet they still feel unwell. Those who want a true preventative medicine approach rather than an early detection approach. What makes you different/good at what you do? At BerkanaWay clients are encouraged and assisted in creating a healthcare team that includes their primary physician, practitioners from BerkanaWay LLC and others in the community. Then utilizing communication as the key, a strategy is developed that facilitates rapid recovery and positive outcomes.
