How It Works –

Ozone for Cavity Prevention
In individuals with high caries (tooth decay) risk we make custom trays with an inlet and outlet for the ozone delivery to the tray and hook up the suction for excess ozone elimination. While the ozone circulates through the tray enclosed environment it kills the harmful pathogens with which it comes into contact. Because it is so permeable it travels through the microscopic tubules that are contained within the tooth structure to get into places that aren’t easily reached. The only problem involved in using this method is that repetition is needed for it to be effective. Once a tooth is decayed into the dentin (one of the 4 main components of teeth) or the layer of tooth underneath the enamel the soft, demineralized, decayed tooth must be removed. However, for individuals with a lot of incipient or early enamel decay this can work like a charm.  Click here for full article.

Coffee:  The New Health Food

Want a drug that can lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and colon cancer? That could lift your moods and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?
Studies suggest the following:
- One to three cups of America’s favorite caffeinated morning beverage can reduce diabetes risk by single digits.
- People who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease.
- Coffee may help manage asthma and even control attacks when medication is unavailable, stop a headache, boost a mood and even prevent cavities.  Click

Something is Fishy!
Most fish contains some mercury. The latest study shows that fish caught in streams and rivers in the US contain mercury and some have way more than the EPA/FDA deems as safe. So what does the EPA and the FDA say is too much? For women and children – the general guideline is two servings per week – 12 ounces of canned light tuna, salmon, pollock and catfish. Most of us should avoid shark, swordfish, King mackerel, and tile fish because of the high mercury levels.

Natural Tips for Cutting Healthcare Costs

The cost of managing sickness is not only detrimental and challenging to overall health and well being but also to the pocketbook. It is much easier to maintain and work towards increasing your level of health.
Here are some tips for cutting your healthcare costs, naturally:
Breathing: Deep belly/abdominal breathing has numerous health benefits: relaxes your body, muscles, mind; decreases heart rate; increases oxygen for the body to use; supports digestion and detoxification. Inhale slowly and deeply through the nose filling the belly with the breath and exhale through the mouth. You can practice inhaling/exhaling for the count of 4 seconds then increase it to 5 seconds, etc.
Exercise: Your body needs exercise that increases your heart rate, promotes muscle activity and aids neurological integration, so your body works as it was designed. Excellent exercises that achieve all three are swimming or walking correctly.  For more tips, click here.

Benefits of Breastfeeding

Dr. Marilyn MitchellMitchell

Breastfeeding has once again become popular among new moms as the preferred method of feeding their infants. This is a healthy trend, as there are many benefits to breastfeeding for both baby and mother.
The benefits of breastfeeding continue for as long as a woman continues, but the greatest benefit to baby occurs in the first 3 months of life when the infant usually has no other nutritional sources, and does not have a fully developed immune system. Many women choose to breast feed through the first year of life, until the baby is able to eat and drink easily from other sources. Some women continue beyond the first year. Moms also benefit from breastfeeding: metabolism is increased helping with post partum weight loss and bonding is improved due to a mutually pleasurable experience. For complete article, click here.

Male Fertility:  Myths and Facts

Dr. Ian Wahl, Dac, Lac, CH Wahl

Up to 40% of couples experiencing fertility problems have factors that involve both the man and the woman. Basically there are three different major factors in male infertility-1) not enough sperm, known as “low sperm count”; 2) motility insufficiency, meaning that the sperm doesn’t move forward as it should; and 3) the sperm is shaped abnormally, also known as poor sperm morphology. If the sperm isn’t shaped right, it can’t penetrate the egg.

Myth: There is no seasonal cycle to sperm counts.
Fact: There is a reason for the season. Believe it or not, sperm counts are higher in the winter and lower in the summer. This may be because cooler temperatures are associated with increased sperm production. Or because the heat of the summer affects the temperature of the scrotum. However, experts aren’t sure that time of year makes a significant difference in fertility.  For more myths & facts, click here.
