The Tree of Life Women’s Health & Wellness
Center

Dr. Linda Knowski, D.C.

6968 W. North Ave

Chicago, IL 60707

(773) 385-9432

oflifehealthcenter.com

Tree of Life Women’s Health & Wellness Center offers
wellness programs that are designed for women of all
ages, such programs that focus on hormonal
symptoms, PMS, infertility peri-
menopause/menopause, stress and stress-related
chronic problems, anxiety, depression, headaches,
pain management, immune system, and allergies.
The center also has programs for those who have
special needs: pregnant women, new mothers, and
professional career women who are overweight, who
are in stressful situations, and others who need to
protect and strengthen their bones, nerves, joints,
muscles, and overall health.

Many women already rely on our associates because
of the caring interaction that develops between patient
and doctor and because of our effective combination
of expert diagnosis, effective spinal adjustments, and
soft tissue therapy, exercise, fitness and nutritional
guidance and lifestyle counseling.

Dr. Linda Knowski, D.C. is founder of Tree of Life
Health Center. A veteran in the field of alternative
medicine, she opened her practice seventeen years
ago. Her initial interest in alternative medicine was
sparked after seeing a close friend who suffered from
severe back problems get positive results through the
use of naprapathic and chiropractic support.

When asked about a most inspiring patient
experience, Linda told us about Mary (the name is
changed for confidentiality). Mary came to Doctor
Knowski with a failed liver. She was waiting for a liver
transplant. Her liver function was near zero. She was
dying. She was the ideal patient in that she followed
the doctors’ orders to the letter. Her hope for a liver
donor was overshadowed by the vast number of
people in front of her on the waiting list, yet she was
desperate to live. Dr. Knowski saw her daily for the
first few months then weekly for five to six months
thereafter. At the end of her treatment, Mary’s liver
function had risen to 40%. A person can live on 20%
function of the liver. Dr. Knowski’s objective is to
improve the quality of life but it gives her great
pleasure when she is able to literally save a life as
she did with Mary. The testament is to the modality,
the Doctor, and most of all, the patient. Dr. Knowski
believes the body has the God-given ability to heal
itself and the practice of health is not in a bottle, but in
the body.

Dr. Knowski’s personal goal is for every woman in the
country to realize that the typical women’s issues with
which women struggle are not necessary. To that end
she is extremely caring and gives of herself
professionally. Additional attributes include high
integrity and strong ethics.

Article – The Truth About Sugar
Hart

Sugar’s Not So Sweet

Dr. Melody Hart, N.D.

Sugar offers quick energy, helps metabolism and
provides closure for digestive processes. But sugars
can be addictive, like a drug or alcohol, offering a false
energy lift that eventually lets you down lower than
when you started. ChicagoHealers.com Practitioner,
Dr. Melody Hart N.D., Ph.D., Naturopathic Doctor offers
some educational tips about America’s favorite
sweetener.

* Regular sugar plays host to diabetes, hypoglycemia,
heart disease and high cholesterol.

* Sugar is in grams on food labels, to convert grams
to teaspoons divide by 4 to get teaspoon per serving,
e.g. Coca-Cola has 10 tsp. of sugar per can.

* Immune function declines significantly for several
hours after just one teaspoon of sugar.

*Sugar causes hyperactivity, anxiety, difficulty
concentrating and crankiness in children.

*Sugar can cause tooth decay.

* Sugar greatly assists with the uncontrolled growth of
Candida (yeast infections).

*Sugar causes food allergies.

* Sugar can cause depression.

* Too much sugar upsets the body’s mineral
balances, draining calcium and B vitamins.

* Hypoglycemia is the direct effect of excess refined
sweets, low fiber foods and processed
carbohydrates.

* Diabetes is a civilized disease resulting from too
much sugar, refined carbohydrates and caffeine.

* Aspartame has been linked to seizures, high blood
pressure, headaches, insomnia, ovarian cancer and
brain tumors.

Sugar Solutions

Stevia – non-caloric and 25 times sweeter than
sugar.

*Whole food sweeteners like agave, honey,

molasses, maple syrup, fruit juice and barley
malt.

*Many diseases linked to high sugar consumption
can be improved with high mineral, high fiber diet,
adequate protein, small frequent meals and regular
mild exercise.

*Eat fruit if craving sugar.
