Services

Describe your services:
The main focus of my massage practice is to alleviate my clients’ pain or discomfort caused by: stress and emotional issues; acute and/or chronic illness; terminal illness; and symptoms brought on by medical protocols used to fight and control severe long-term illnesses. I also treat those with back, hip, knee, ankle, and/or foot pain who want to feel more relaxed and rested; those caring for others with life altering diseases; those who want to live life more fully and completely; and those who want to “unstick” themselves in some aspect of their life.

How does your healing modality work?
I use massage therapy techniques coupled with corresponding therapies which include Craniosacral Therapy; Somatoemotional Release Therapy; and/or Lymph Drainage Techniques to form the foundation for effective treatment.

Body cells, the basic structural and functional unit of all organisms, store sensations from past medical or emotional experiences. It is not uncommon for these cells to release their memories during the course of massage therapy sessions. It has been proven that increased awareness and resultant time for reflection and relaxation often leave people feeling more grounded, powerful, and connected.

How do you see your services evolving over the next three years?
After years of in-depth experience with the Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center I recently expanded my private practice to encompass cancer patients and their families to provide a safe, confidential environment where I can protect, respect, and support their paths to better health and well-being. I currently provide treatment at 9701 North Knox, Suite 215 in Skokie, IL

Benefits

What are the benefits/results people see?
Less or no pain and the ultimate return to better health. As blocked energy frees up, it becomes available to be used in new ways. As pain recedes my clients often experience an expanded sense of appreciation about their body, mind, and spirit – and a growing sense of well-being. Each person encounters growth and development in his or her own unique way. To that end, a key element in my practice is to provide a safe, confidential environment where I can protect, respect, and support their path to better health.

Why do people come to see you?
My clients’ goals are to live life in the most positive ways possible – to be the best they can be – to be in charge of their own potential. When life’s circumstances deplete or put stress on our internal reserves we can offset these roadblocks by tapping into other resources that encourage us to practice self care and to utilize healing modalities. My sessions are cooperative in nature and allow my clients to actively participate in their own specific treatment plan. I firmly believe (when we encounter greater physical or emotional experiences than we are prepared to handle) that massage therapy helps lessen the pain and aids in the ultimate return to better health. For people in pain the journey to health is their dream; it is my privilege to work alongside them to assist them in reaching that destination.

Who is an ideal client?
My ideal clients are those who actively participate in their individually designed treatment plan and who believe that massage therapy can be the path to lessening pain and aiding in their ultimate return to better health.

What makes you different/good at what you do?
My approach is simple. I listen. Pain relief, increasing muscle function and mobility, and stress reduction are all examples of pertinent issues in restoring health. Through dialogue and massage we work together to find the best procedures to healing. My personal history with pain gives me a realistic yet sympathetic view of the process of regaining health. Because of that I have developed the patience, skill levels, and understanding needed to accompany each client on the path to resolving or lessening their health issues.

Philosophy/Approach

Describe your healing philosophy:
My clients’ goals are to live life in the most positive ways possible – to be the best they can be – to be in charge of their own potential. I firmly believe when we encounter experiences for which we are emotionally and physically unprepared massage therapy can greatly assist in the process of healing. For people in pain, the journey to health is their dream; it is my privilege to work alongside my clients to assist them in reaching that destination.

Describe your style or approach:
My sessions are participative in nature and include my clients’ collaboration in every step of their treatment.

Why do you do what you do?
After twenty years of exploring traditional treatment for my own acute and chronic pain, I finally turned to other options which included massage therapy. Within a few months I was feeling better and, after a few years, I was virtually pain free. I decided it was time to change my life and my career so that I could extend to others the wonderful gifts I had been given by my amazing healers.

What to expect

Describe a typical session:
Clients are escorted to a warm, inviting treatment room. Then for the duration of the session, they simply lie down on the massage table, relax, and provide feedback when requested as I work on their muscles and redirect energy using a variety of massage and corresponding bodywork techniques.

How long is a typical session?
Sessions are typically one hour but could go longer, depending upon the client’s request and/or symptoms.

Describe your office or treatment room:
The treatment room contains a massage table with pillows and linens, a stool, low lighting, and soothing background sounds.

How should someone prepare for a session?
On the initial visit, the client must complete a health information form (bringing background information with them so they can answer questions specifically and correctly, i.e., dates of previous medical procedures, medications, treatments, etc.). If therapy is needed for a specific area of pain the client should be prepared to describe their symptoms in detail so that together we can develop an appropriate treatment plan.
