Grieving is a natural response that enables people to come to terms with their specific loss. Symptoms of grief and loss can be depression, anxiety, a lowered immune system, insomnia, weight loss or gain, and feelings of guilt or anger. Good nutrition, self-care and finding the right support may ease the transition back from grief to feeling well again.

Our Practitioner’s Holistic Recommendations
Victories of the Heart, NFP
Many of us go through life feeling the constant sadness that comes from a significant loss. It may occur as the result of a death, a divorce, a disease, a career change, a traumatic experience, or the process of aging. They say that “time heals all wounds,” but time may only conceal; the wound remains inside us. True healing comes when we allow ourselves to feel the sadness, experience the pain, and recognize its ultimate source in our past experience.During our retreats, we encourage men to do what at first seems a paradox: overcome the grief by allowing themselves to feel it as deeply as possible. In large part, this means looking deep within and exploring their past in ways that enable them to relive the experiences behind the pain. By acknowledging their grief and embracing its source, they not only ease the grief but reduce its power to stand as a block between the lives they lead and the lives they seek.
